Eat Healthy, Be Active

The Eat Healthy, Be Active community workshops are based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2015- 2020 and the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. Each of these six 1-hour workshops includes a lesson plan, learning objectives, talking points, hands-on activities, videos, and handouts. The workshops are used by community educators, health promoters, dietitians/nutritionists, cooperative extension agents, and others to teach to adults in a wide variety of community settings.

National diabetes prevention program

Mental health

Rural Minds

Rural Minds aims to empower people living in rural communities with the information and resources they need to become part of the solution. This involves partnering with other organizations to create mental health educational content and training programs that honor self-reliance in rural Americans.

By serving as trusted sources of information and having courageous conversations about mental health, we believe rural Americans can help each other overcome many mental health challenges and minimize the stigma that surrounds mental illness.

Cancer Prevention

colorectal cancer screening

If you're between ages 45 to 75 years, get screened (tested) regularly for colorectal cancer. Screening tests can help prevent colorectal cancer or find it early, when it may be easier to treat. You may need to get screened before age 45 years if colorectal cancer runs in your family.

breast & ovarian cancer prevention

Breast cancer can occur in women and rarely in men.

Symptoms of breast cancer include a lump in the breast, bloody discharge from the nipple, and changes in the shape or texture of the nipple or breast.

Ovarian cancer often goes undetected until it has spread within the pelvis and belly. At this late stage, ovarian cancer is more difficult to treat and can be fatal.

Ovarian cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages. Later stages are associated with symptoms, but they can be non-specific, such as loss of appetite and weight loss.

Surgery and chemotherapy are generally used to treat ovarian cancer.
